MP3 recordings for individual characters become downloadable. As requested, on the Stroke Order Animation and Dictionary page, added a Download MP3 Recording button, which is below the animated Chinese character. Click the button to save the mp3 recording of the character to your computer.

Now the system pronounces the stroke names during the stroke order animations. On the Chinese Stroke Animation and Dictionary page, click the animated Chinese character or the Next Stroke button below the animated Chinese character to hear the native-speaker pronunciation of the strokes.
Added Add My Vocabs button onto the Edit Vocab List screen. After grabbing words and characters from the Chinese-English dictionary and saving them to My Vocab List, now you can add the words in the My Vocab List to any saved vocab lists.(Thanks to Kevin Bogle!)
Per the requests from our users, we have added back the Quick Lookup feature. Quick Lookup is very useful to find the corresponding Chinese character or word for an English word. You can listen to the pronuncation of the word and add the word to your vocab list to further study or generate worksheets.
Added See Also links to the left side of the animated character to quickly look up characters with the same radical or component.

Once the worksheet PDF file is ready, you can elect to save the PDF file to your local machine and then view it with your favorite PDF viewer, or directly view the PDF file in a separate browser pop-up window. The former is much faster while the latter is more convenient.

Released the fourth batch of example sentence audio recordings.
Added additional example sentences, mostly for new HSK level 5 and 6 words and characters.
Now you can expand and collapse the example sentence details by clicking the little magnifying glass icon.
With the sample sentences, now you are able to quickly toggle on and off the English, Pinyin and Chinese characters to help testing.
When looking up characters or words with fuzzy Pinyin (Pinyin without tones), in addition to example words, now related example sentences will be shown as well.

As shown on the Chinese character display setting screenshot, now you can choose Pinyin or Bopomofo as the phonetic system. Note this phonetic system setting applies to Chinese character details, example words and sentences.

Started creating studio quality, native-speaker audio recordings for all the example sentences. We just published the first batch. More are in the making. Our goal is to create 20,000 plus example sentences that cover the majority, if not all, of the common characters, compound words and sentence structures. Each sentence will have a real person, native speaker audio.

Created Chinese Word Details page to allow users to view the detailed information of a commonly-used Chinese word. Click the magnifying glass on the right hand side of the word to view its details. Besides the example sentences of the word, the page contains some innovative features: similar pronunciation words, same pronunciation words (if any), words with the same head character and words with the same tail character. The similar pronunciation words include the words with same syllables but different tones, such as xiao3 xue2(小学, elementary school), xiao3 xue3(小雪, light snow). Further, depending on how many similar pronunciation words available, the system will display words to help users to differentiate confusing pronuncations (such as zh- vs. z-, ch- vs. c-, sh- vs. s-, -ong vs. -on, -eng vs. en and -ing vs. in). The last is the unique Words of Interest, which lists similiar meaning or related words.
Improved Chinese character and phrase worksheet makers. The generated worksheets are viewable for Adobe Reader 4.5 and above. No more "illegal operation on an inside path" issue for the users who use an ancient PDF viewer.

Released long-awaited and one of the most-requested Chinese Sentence Writing Sheet Maker. With a few clicks, you can create nice-formatted Chinese phrase/sentence writing sheets for Chinese learners to practice writing. Comparing to the original handout generator, this newly-designed system is much easy-to-use and faster. In addition, the system can automatically populate Pinyin for the sentences. As requested, we added additional font style support. Now a user can use Kaiti, LiSu, Xingkai, YouYuan, Hupo, Caiyun or Songti on the worksheets.
Reviewed and added 25,000 additional commonly-used words and Chinese idioms to the Arch Chinese word and phrase repository. All the Chinese words and phrases have been reviewed by our bilingual Chinese language teachers. Our phrase repository may not be biggest one on the Internet, but it is one of the most accurate and tailored for Chinese langauge learners at all levels!
Added a Reset button on the Chinese flashcard program toolbar to allow the user to remove all the card schedule informaton and start it over.
Fixed a bug on Pinyin Tone Drill program (Thanks to Regis Cheval). You can use the Pinyin Tone Drill program to test and practice your knowledge of Mandarin Pinyin and tones.
Added flashcard printing feature on the Chinese Flashcards page. With one click, you can create professional-looking paper flashcards. The new Print button is added to the toolbar. You can print flashcards from the pre-made decks. Of course, you can customize the card definitions before you print them. Also, you can create you own decks and then print them on perforated business card paper. It is great for teachers and parents to create learning materials for young Chinese language learners.
Added Printable Chinese Flashcard options on the Worksheets page. On the Flashcard option tab, you can specify flashcard paper size (letter or A4), flashcard card(US business card size or European business card size), whether or not print cut lines (disable cut lines when printing on perforated business card paper, but enable it if you cut the flashcards manually using paper cutter or a pair of scissors), whether or not print flashcard border. At last, you can skip printing the Chinese characters on the back of the flashcard to recall the characters on the front of the card.
Note those setttings also apply to the Printable Chinese flashcards generated from Chinese Flashcards page.
Now a user can add a title to a worksheet. The title can be specified on the Worksheet Grids, Colors and Title tab of the Settings pop-up. To update or create a new title, simply enter the title to the box and press the Save button. Blank out the title box to remove worksheet titles.
Cleaned up example words to remove phrases and proper nouns that are not commonly used.

Added Chinese character flashcard maker button to the Worksheet page. Now you can customize the definitions for each character and then print hardcopy Chinese character flashcards for offline study. Currently, Letter (or US Letter) is the default paper size. You can use perforated business card paper or regular paper.It is easy and fast! You may need to adjust your printer settings to use thicker paper. To make sure the flashcard borders match the perforations of the perforated business card paper, disable scaling and/or fit-to-page options.

Added a new worksheet style to allow the users to use long and complete English definitions on the worksheets. Intead of showing them in the head character, the English definitions are listed on a separate grid on top of the stroke sequence diagram. To use this style, select Show English definitions in a separate grid on the Worksheet settings. It is also very useful for the users who use non-English definitions such as German.
Added a Use Default button on character definition customization editing screen to allow the users to remove the customizations for the character. That is, the worksheets use the definitions provided by Arch Chinese.

Chinese phrase handout generator now is a hybrid of Chinese character worksheet generator and Chinese phrase worksheet generator. You
can generate a worksheet where you can start tracing the characters and write the phrases made of the characters you trace.
On the Chinese character worksheets, if Create Pinyin practice grid for each character is enabled, Pinyin will be shown on top of the first tracing character.

Instead of using tone numbers, now the Pinyin on the generated Chinese worksheets and handouts use tone marks. When you create a Chinese phrase handout, for your convenience, you enter Pinyin with tone numbers, but the system will automatically convert them to tone marks when you print them.

Instead of using the long serial key to log in, for registered members, now you can create an
alternative, easy-to-remember member id via the System and Security tab of the Settings pop-up.

Added a new option, Show character stroke sequences in one box to save space, to the character worksheet generation. By default, this option is disable for the existing users, but is enabled for new users. Here are two sample worksheets, one with Pinyin grids and one without Pinyin grids.

Added searching characters/phrases/example sentences by English phrases, English sentence fragments (e.g. prefer to, might as well, my Chinese teacher, am going to), Chinese phrase, Chinese sentence patterns or fragments (such as 与其...不如)
Added character look-up by radicals. Also, the example sentences of each character have been reorganized. Now easy ones display first.

Added example sentences. As in example phrases, you can click any characters in the sentences to look up the meanings and usage of the clicked character.
