To create a character card sheet with pictures,
  1. Enter the Chinese character or word.
  2. Enter the definition of the Chinese character or word in English (or your native language). You can click the E button to let the system fill in the definition for you if the Chinese is a single character or a commonly-used word. The Chinese word should not be more than 4 characters long.
  3. Click the P button to add Pinyin automatically. In the case that there are multiple pronunciations for a particular character, the system will attempt to use the right one based on its context. In some cases, the user may have to edit it. Note Pinyin must be entered with tone numbers. The system will convert them to tone marks when the PDF sheetis generated. In addition, the Pinyin syllables must be separated by a blank space. As an example, for the Chinese word 哪儿, the Pinyin must be entered as na3 er2. Use v for ü, for example lv3 for lǚ, and number 5 for the neutral tone, e.g. ma5 (吗).
  4. Click the Add Rows button to add more rows(cards).
  5. Click the image button to upload an image or look up images shared by the Chinese learning community.
  6. Optionally, change the default settings. Click the color buttons to change foreground colors for Chinese, English, Pinyin and the cardborders.
  7. Click the Print button to generate the PDF sheets.
  8. Click the Save button to save the list for future use or use it in other tools on this web site
